Project: Maiduguri Flood Relief Operations
Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Status: Completed
Estimated Number of Beneficiaries: 20,000 people
In September 2024, Maiduguri, which is the capital of Borno State, located in the northeastern parts of Nigeria, was engulfed with flooding waters due to the breach of the Alau Dam. The flooding caused human, financial, and infrastructural losses and impacted over a million people.
Abdulkabir Aliu Foundation, to mitigate the impacts of flooding, joined hands with the Borno State government and donated food and non-food items for the people who were massively affected by the flooding. The handing-over ceremony took place at Government House-Maiduguri, which was graced by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, FNSE. His Excellency thanked Alhaji Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, the Chairman of Abdulkabir Aliu Foundation/Group Chief Executive Officer-Matrix Energy, for his continuous support to the people of Borno State during the crisis and assured that the stuff donated will reach the most deserving people affected by flooding and massive rains.
